Steve Wojciechowski will have a spot to fill on his coaching staff, as assistant Mark Phelps has left Marquette to accept the same position at Arizona according to Jason Sheer of WildcatAuthority.com. He replaces Damon Stoudamire, who bolted for Memphis yesterday.

Phelps spent one year at Marquette as a part of Wojciechowski’s first coaching staff. He was an assistant at Missouri for two years before joining the Golden Eagles.

He has five years of head coaching experience at Drake from 2008 to 2013. He is the winningest coach in the programs history, posting a 77-86 record and two winning seasons. During his time at Drake the team made the CIT twice.

Phelps spent the first ten years of his Division I coaching experience as an assistant at North Carolina State from 1996 to 2006. The Wolfpack made the postseason five times during his tenure. Arizona coach Sean Miller was brought to NC State as an assistant in 1996 as well, before leaving for Xavier in 2001.
