WE ARE HIRING!: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MARQUETTE WIRE ACADEMIC YEAR: 2026-2027
Position Description:
The executive director oversees all facets of the Marquette Wire, which includes the Marquette Wire news website (marquettewire.org), the Marquette Tribune, the Marquette Journal, MUTV, Marquette Radio and all advertising and business operations.
The executive director works closely with the Director of Student Media on planning, budgets, training, critiques, workshops and other matters. He or she collaborates with the other media leaders to coordinate content and workflow across the various student media platforms.
The Executive Director will promote, propose and monitor collaboration between our media outlets to create multimedia content to drive traffic between platforms. This will offer more challenging opportunities to our reporters and content producers, as well as a more compelling experience to our readers, listeners and viewers.
The executive director is assigned office 206AB, where he or she will conduct business related to the administration of The Marquette Wire. He or she should hold meetings in the newsroom, program office hours, and encourage the rest of the staff to do so. The objective is to bring staff together in person, to foster collaboration and creativity.
The executive director serves as the chief spokesperson for student media and as a liaison with other people and groups on campus, including the University Board for Student Media.
Some of the other duties of the position include: overseeing all hiring and staff training, leading weekly meetings with outlet directors and Director of Student Media, organizing all-staff meetings and determine their frequency, resolving disputes at all levels of student media, and working with the other student media leaders and the Director of Student Media to establish goals and to develop and implement plans for the organization.

EXECUTIVE NEWS PRODUCER
The Executive News Producer will participate in the hiring process and will supervise a crew of production assistants engaged in creating videos packages and deciding the editorial content to be covered. These stories will be distributed through a newscast, which he or she will produce. You are expected to lead the production of the live news show and be present for meetings with MUTV staff. Since production of shows takes place after common school hours, studio producers must be available to work at least 2 nights a week, after 5:00 pm. Content will also be distributed through The Wire’s social media accounts.
ASSISTANT NEWS PRODUCER 1 & 2
The Assistant News Producers will coordinate and supervise talent and technical personnel involved in the production of any of our news programs. They will collaborate with the Executive News Producer, to plan and create the show, leading the crew during live and pre-recorded content. He or she will also lead news gathering efforts around campuses, supervising the field producers. He or she may also host the shows or participate on camera, if necessary. Since production of shows takes place after common school hours, studio producers must be available to work at least 2 nights a week, after 5:00 pm.
FIELD PRODUCER 1 & 2
Field Producers will record, produce, and edit short news packages, as well as participate in special projects that demand working outside of the studio. They will coordinate with assistant and executive producers, manage schedule, and supervise editing of final cut. Field producers can also appear on camera as reporters.
PRODUCTION ASSISTANTS (3 positions available)
Production assistants will be engaged in studio production, following the technical director’s leadership. They may be engaged as camerapersons, floor directors, teleprompter operators, and other audio and video operations necessary to help put together our shows. Since production of shows takes place after common school hours, camerapersons must be available to work at least 2 nights a week, after 5:00 pm.
VIDEO GRAPHIC DESIGNER
The video graphic designer will propose, desi graphic elements the producers need to illustrate their shows. This can include intro animations, lower-thirds, informative graphics, bumpers, etc. They will collaborate with executive producers to plan and execute graphics.

Please know that the show schedule for the semester has already been finalized so there are limited slots for show openings at the current moment. We do registration, time selection and training at the beginning of each semester.
