College of Communication student council to start spring 2018

The idea for a student council came about last year when Ruppe and Becerra, both MUSG College of Communication senators, were talking with Ben Dombrowski, MUSG president and senior in the College of Communication, about ways to unite the college.
“We focus on empowerment,” Jenna Borowski, executive director of the Marquette WYSE branch and senior in the College of Communication, said. “We try not to tell the girls what to do, but rather give them a variety of options. They can choose what works best for them.”

McAdams’ appeal decision forthcoming

John McAdams, a professor of political science at Marquette University, was suspended indefinitely without pay in 2014 after writing a post on his blog criticizing a graduate professor by name who did not allow a student to discuss the topic of same-sex marriage during their class. McAdams filed a lawsuit challenging the suspension, which was ruled against by a Milwaukee County judge last May. McAdams has been in the process of appealing the decision since then.

Local manufacturing at highest growth, promises stable future

The report, known as the Marquette Institute for Supply Management report on Manufacturing, is primarily generated by Marquette graduate students. Marquette began doing the report around 2009 or 2010, after the ISM Milwaukee chapter wanted to get rid of it.

Marquette changes to rolling admissions, part of nationwide trend

Marquette has now switched to rolling admission, meaning after students submit their application and FAFSA, they can hear back with a decision within about three weeks. The decision that John Baworowsky, Vice Provost of Enrollment Management, said “gives a huge advantage to the student.”
