Grammy’s: The Ginger of the Award Shows

The Grammys took place this past Sunday and surprisingly I like the fashion better than that at the SAG awards. (check out http://marquettejournal.org/latest-issue/my-sagging-expectations/for a quick review!) However, CBS tried something new this year (emphasis on tried): they wanted to instate a dress code of sorts. An article in Vogue UK says:

“The policy states that all talent appearing on camera should ensure that ‘buttocks and breasts are adequately covered’ and to be aware that ‘thong-type costumes are problematic’. It continues to detail that sheer and see-through clothing should be avoided, as should exposure of the “bare fleshy under curves of the buttock” or the “under curvature of the breasts”.

(full email can be read at http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2013/02/7/grammy-awards-2013-wardrobe-advisory-warning-against-inappropriate-outfits—grammys-red-carpet)

Well some artists adhered to this code….the men.

Most (shockingly) exercised their right to ignore all rules (rules are for mere mortals, after all) and showed up in outfits like these:

However, if they didn’t violate the dress code, they showed up as a dinosaur.

Also, Taylor Swift apparently joined Panic! At the Disco.

But all was forgiven when Johnny Depp showed up.
