Seeking a Trend for the End of the World, Part Deux

As promised, here is part 2 of my fashion year in review (finally). In case you need a refresher, here is the link to part 1 (http://marquettejournal.org/latest-issue/seeking-a-trend-for-the-end-of-the-world-part-1/). I named leather and peplum as two of the my favorite trends from 2012, but don’t think that means they are going to be any less popular; nay, all four trends I’m naming will continue to be extremely relevant and fashionable in 2013!

So to kick things off, my third favorite trend: The rise of the blouse. I’m not sure if we just weren’t dressing as femininely as in previous years or if there just weren’t stylish blouses available (unless you wanted to look just like Martha Stewart…..I doubt it), but this often matronly piece has made quite the comeback. From embellished to sleeveless, the blouse has become almost as wardrobe-necessary as a scarf in a Wisconsin winter.

Some of my favorite types of blouses are:

These are an easy way to dress up an outfit without being too fancy, as you can easily pair one with jeans or a skirt.

Aaaand last but not least, my fourth favorite trend of the year 2012: uneven (high-low) tops and skirts! This is a fun way to change up a simple shirt or skirt. I had a few uneven shirts but was afraid to venture away from them until my friend pushed me into buying this uneven leopard-print skirt from H&M. I only received positive feedback from it that night, and now my heart is set on the same skirt but with a skull print.

(That’s me! This is such a great outfit, if I may say so myself…)

So that’s 2012 in a nutshell; I hope to keep seeing these trends in 2013!
