Black and Brown

Contrary to the norm, I think that black and brown in the same outfit is a completely fabulous idea.

In fact I do it all the time.

I think of all the seasons, fall is the best one to try it out.

There’s something about the rich dark colors contrasting with rosy cheeks and colorful leaves that is so romantically feminine.

Here are a couple of suggestions for incorporating this idea into your wardrobe this Monday.

Black tights with brown high waisted shorts is always a good idea, and a great way to incorporate your summer wardrobe into your fall/winter one if you’re on a budget.

My favorite tights in the world come from Anthropologie. They last forever, never get saggy in the knees and only cost $15.

If you’re not a fan of wearing heels around campus, (I’m not) flats or boots can look just as stylish.

This is also a perfect occasion to try out that brown tote we talked about last week.

If it’s a warmer day, pull out that cutesy, semi-dressed up black dress.

Wear a brown braided belt and boots in a similar color to make it more casual.

This is probably my number one go-to look if I want to look “fallish,” You can just never go wrong.

Ps. Tinted lip balm with protection from the wind and a pinch to the cheeks can make you feel even more girly.

Readers, how do you break traditional fashion laws?
