According to a report by CBS basketball analyst Jeff Goodman, Marquette guard Jake Thomas will not be returning to the Golden Eagles next season.
Goodman reported via Twitter around 9 p.m. Wednesday that the redshirt junior will transfer to one of four inquiring colleges. The schools interested are reportedly Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Illinois-Chicago and South Alabama.
Sports information director Scott Kuykendall confirmed that Thomas asked for his release, and it was granted.
Thomas averaged just nine minutes per game in 2012-13, scoring 42 points and grabbing 22 rebounds in 23 games played.
Thomas’ most memorable moment as a Golden Eagles was a four-point play against Syracuse on Feb. 25 that helped Marquette rally to defeat the Orange 74-71.
