Fort Hood tragedy hits home

The Marquette community mourns the loss of alumnus Capt. Russell Seager, one of 12 soldiers and one civilian employee killed in the shooting last Thursday at Fort Hood, Texas.

Seager, 51, graduated from Marquette in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. He earned his Master of Science from Marquette in 1996. Seager also taught an undergraduate mental health nursing clinical course part time from 2003-’05.

Seager worked with the combat stress control of the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Hood and was preparing to deploy to Iraq.
