Marquette (9-4-2, 5-1-1 Big East) relied heavily on the play of sophomore forward Ashley Bares, who had the go-ahead goal in both contests. The Golden Eagles beat St. John's 2-1 in double overtime (with the other goal coming from junior Becky Ryan).

Against Syracuse, Bares scored in the 28th minute, and the Golden Eagles were able to limit the Orange to just seven total shots. For Bares, the two goals were her second and third of the season, tying her for the team lead with junior Julia Victor. Bares is also second on the team in points, with seven.

Freshman goaltender Natalie Kulla started both games for Marquette, stopping four shots on the weekend. Kulla is now 7-2-2 on the season and has posted five shutouts to go along with a 0.71 goals against average.
