So you're telling me there's a chance
The Connecticut women's basketball program has dominated college hoops for the last 14 years. Since the 1993-'94 season, UConn has gone 446-40, and the Huskies enter Saturday night's game at the Al McGuire Center with a 19-2 record and five players who average in double figures.
But don't give up all hope.
Connecticut struggled to put away Cincinnati (12-9, 3-6 Big East) on the road Tuesday and did not take the lead for good until the 4:02 mark of the second half.
Marquette (19-3, 7-2) must bounce back from a 66-56 loss at Rutgers Tuesday, but the Golden Eagles are 9-0 at home this season. Of course, the Huskies by far are the most talented team to visit the Al.
Game on.
Lucky No. 7, and No. 3
The men's basketball team looks to extend its winning streak to seven games Saturday when it hosts Providence (14-6, 4-3) at the Bradley Center.
In the teams' first meeting in Rhode Island on Jan. 4, the Friars handed the Golden Eagles a 74-59 loss. Marquette fans would point out that sophomore guard Jerel McNeal (14.6 points per game) was out with an injury. Providence fans would counter that sophomore guard Sharaud Curry (16.6 ppg) was benched for violating team rules.
Former Marquette basketball great Dwyane Wade's No. 3 will be retired during a halftime ceremony.
