Day clarifies a sarcastic piece

When I read Doug Zabrowski's March 8 viewpoint, I decided that a response was in order. The Viewpoint did not merit a rational, well-reasoned rebuttal, so I resorted to sarcasm.

Therefore, my March 17 Viewpoint was satirical in nature, which means that I just exaggerated the entailments of Zabrowski's Viewpoint in a mocking tone. Which means that I don't hate gays so stop sending me hate mail because you missed the joke.

Don't make fun of Megan Ivers, who last week responded to my Viewpoint thinking I was serious. Her points were good regardless of context, and the line about me spending too much time in the basement of Johnston Hall cracked me up.
