Reflections on past four years hearten, enliven

As I sit back and reflect on the what the past four years has brought me, I can't help but feeling blessed. The last four years have been a wild ride filled with numerous great memories.

There was the jolt of freshman year, a year filled with increased workloads and most definitely an increased social life. Need I say more than "Angelos?" I knew the first time I walked in there that it was sent from heaven above.

Sophomore year for me was sentimental. Between an outstanding friend being diagnosed with cancer to the aftermath of 9/11, the year was filled with sorrow and agony for everyone. I will never forget how proud I was to be a Marquette student on 9/11. At the Gesu prayer service that afternoon, I realized that this school was where I needed to be. The main vestibule overflowed with mourning students. Everyone's guard was down and everyone came together for the same reason. It was an unbelievable display of the compassion and friendship that this school routinely exibits.

Junior year was filled with excitement and drama as our basketball team marched to the Final Four. I'll always remeber how our campus became united during those few months, all culminating on the eruption that occured on Wisconsin Ave. as we upset Kentucky. Plus, was there anything better than those Saturday morning tailgates? I think not. I personally learned junior year that you can make 14 meals a week in the microwave (who can afford breakfast anyway?).

Senior year for me has been a year of self-reflection and uncertainty. What am I going to do next year? Where will I be living in six months? But it has also been a year of excitement. Most of us have spent more hours "socializing" than enjoying the new library. Everyone is finally getting all their questions answered, and it's been a blast.

I wouldn't change one thing about the last four years. I have hung out with arguably the rowdiest group of friends since the day I set foot in McCormick. For that more than anything, I am blessed. I'm not sure what the future holds, but I can tell you one thing, Marquette will always be a central part of my life.
