"The defense went for the fake, we faked a dive, and (Naquin) was wide open. I just threw it in there," Cerveny said.

The Muskie's scored again in the third quarter being up 22-6 going into the fourth quarter. The Golden Eagles scored again at 8:22 in the fourth quarter when defensive back Tim Kufahl made an interception on the goal line and returned it for 100 yards. Only down 10, the Golden Eagles defense tried to force another turnover but was unsuccessful as Lakeland scored again.

The Golden Eagles last drive of the season was surely their finest hour as second string quarterback Tyler Brummond passed the ball up the field for 50 yards. After being sacked, Brummond completed his next four passes to lead the Golden Eagles to the 10-yard line after a pass to a diving Denny Sempasa. Just yards away from their last touchdown, Brummond's pass in the end zone was intercepted.

After a long speech by their coaches and captain, the players said their goodbyes until March when they begin training again.

"I think this is one of them games where everybody realized it was the last game and just put it out there," said running back Anthony Rollins. "You know, there is no tomorrow so might as well play today."

"This game, personally, I think this is the closest we been as a team, being together and playing as a team," Sempasa said.

Head coach Al Maldonado said he is already thinking about getting better next season. He said everything must start with the offense.

"Our biggest problem right now is receivers are not catching the ball and the quarterbacks. When Tyler (Brummond) is in its different, but when Smiley (Cerveny) is in, he has really bad mechanics, he's a freshman," Maldonado said.

"Our running game isn't bad, we have a good strong offensive line and they're all coming back next year and our running backs are coming back next year, so our running game is strong. 'D' (Denny Sempasa), who has made great strides over the season and I don't know if he has ever played organized football before, he's awesome now. He's catching with his hands and he's running the routes, but it's still going to start with our quarterbacks."
