Healthiest Halloween Candy

Even though we may not travel door-to-door collecting pillowcases of candy, we are still surrounded by fun-sized packages of goodies the days leading up to Halloween. Since these portion-controlled items are only available once or twice a year, our mind is not satisfied by one mini Twix. When reaching your hand into the bottomless cauldron of candy, make sure to grab only those on the list below to ensure your costume still fits by the end of the night:

    1. 3 Musketeers Minis: This delicious chocolate bar is less dense then a caramel, nut-filled snickers. Ranking in only 24 calories should make this airy chocolate bar a top contender.

    2. Pumpkin Peeps: They may not be as popular among children as skittles are, but these little puffs contain only 16 calories. This means you could eat a package of 6 peeps as your 100 calorie snack for the day.

    3. Hershey Kisses: Having to unwrap each individual kiss makes eating these more challenging then say, m&m’s. Research shows having a barrier (like tinfoil) tricks the mind into eating less.

    4. Tootsie Roll: Everyone loves a tootsie roll! At 50 calories per serving, a tootsie roll is a great way to rid a chocolate craving. Be careful not to take a handful though, because the calories will quickly add up.

    5. Charms Blow Pop: If you can’t seem to control your servings, resort to a blow pop. At 60 calories, these long-lasting suckers can entertain your mouth so you aren’t tempted to indulge in anything else.
