Whole Nine Yards: Week 8 rankings
By Zac Bellman
Special to the Tribune
- Peyton Manning (Broncos) vs. Washington – The Redskins’ are coming off a big win but gave up 41 points in the process. Plus Peyton will want to get his Broncos back on track.
- Matt Stafford (Lions) vs. Dallas – Could take a couple sacks this week but the Cowboys are 31st in the league against fantasy quarterbacks.
- Aaron Rodgers (Packers) at Minnesota – Plays very well in domes and with the Vikings QB situation in flux he could see plenty of opportunities if Minnesota can’t sustain drives.
- Robert Griffin III (Redskins) at Denver – Finally starting to look like the RG3 of old with 161 yards rushing which raises his stock considerably.
- Michael Vick (Eagles) vs. New York Giants – Hamstring injury is a concern but Vick had a tremendous start going before going down in the Eagles’ last game against the Giants.
- Drew Brees (Saints) vs. Buffalo
- Russell Wilson (Seahawks) at St. Louis
- Tony Romo (Cowboys) at Detroit
- Colin Kaepernick (49ers) at Jacksonville
- Cam Newton (Panthers) at Tampa Bay
- Matt Ryan (Falcons) at Arizona
- Eli Manning (Giants) at Philadelphia
- Carson Palmer (Cardinals) vs. Atlanta
- Andy Dalton (Bengals) vs. New York Jets
- Alex Smith (Chiefs) vs. Cleveland
RB rankings:
- Jamaal Charles (Chiefs) vs. Cleveland – Ran for 165 yards in a loss to the Browns last year, and the Chiefs figure to be playing with the lead in this one which means lots of carries.
- LeSean McCoy (Eagles) vs. Dallas – Vick is back but may not be able to run much, leaving more touches for McCoy.
- Marshawn Lynch (Seahawks) at St. Louis – The beat down could come early on in this one, and the Rams are 30th against the run in the league.
- Reggie Bush (Lions) vs. Dallas – Dallas has given three 20+ point fantasy outputs to running backs over the last three weeks and Bush is getting 25 touches a game.
- Knowshon Moreno (Broncos) vs. Washington – Manning could be hurt more than he’s letting on, which could mean less throwing and more handoffs to Moreno.
- Frank Gore (49ers) at Jacksonville
- Eddie Lacy (Packers) at Minnesota
- Darren Sproles (Saints) vs. Buffalo
- Adrian Peterson (Vikings) vs. Green Bay
- Fred Jackson (Bills) at New Orleans
- Stevan Ridley (Patriots) vs. Miami
- Alfred Morris (Redskins) at Denver
- Darren McFadden (Raiders) vs. Pittsburgh
- Peyton Hillis (Giants) at Philadelphia

WR rankings:
- Calvin Johnson (Lions) vs. Dallas – Dallas is 30th in the league against the pass and Megatron is back from his injury after a huge game last week.
- Jordy Nelson (Packers) at Minnesota – With the receiving corps decimated by injury he’s one of Aaron Rodgers’ few reliable targets.
- Harry Douglas (Falcons) at Arizona – Speaking of decimated receiving corps, the Falcons are in a similar situation, causing Douglas to rise up in the rankings this week.
- Demaryius Thomas (Broncos) vs. Washington – Thomas was shut down in the first half last week but still caught a TD in the second. Manning looks his way even when he’s well covered.
- Victor Cruz (Giants) at Philadelphia – Targets have been down recently for Cruz but he caught five of his 12 targets last time he faced the Eagles three weeks ago.
- DeSean Jackson (Eagles) vs. New York Giants
