34-year-old Tedrick A. Boone was charged in the Feb. 18 sexual assault and armed robbery of a female Marquette student.
He was charged with one count of first-degree sexual assault with the use of a dangerous weapon and another count of armed robbery, according to online court records.
Wisconsin court records show Boone had an active warrant for two misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree sexual assault from incidents in 2018 and 2019. The 2019 sexual assault took place on the Milwaukee Area Technical College campus.
According to a report from WISN, a search of Boone’s phone recovered internet searches from Feb. 18 like “Marquette University dispatched calls” and “Marquette student raped” the same night as the incident.
He searched “Marquette student raped” at least 12 times between Feb. 19 and Feb. 25.
Boone tried to flee twice from cops upon his Feb. 26 arrest at a facility on West Vliet Street. He denied having contact with any Marquette students when questioned by police.
While reviewing surveillance footage from the Wisconsin Conservatory of Lifelong Learning on 12th Street, police identified a subject matching the defendant’s description around 1:40 a.m. on Feb. 18 leading the victim into the alley.
On Feb. 20, officers recovered a tan coat from under the porch of a vacant home on West Highland Avenue with a gun in the pocket and a used condom nearby. The evidence was tested and came back positive for Boone’s DNA.
MUPD arrested three men from the home on Feb. 20 on unrelated warrants. On Feb. 26, Marquette sent out an update that they took an individual into custody for the robbery and sexual assault.
According to the complaint, the student was walking to her residence when she noticed someone was following her. When she walked into the alley near 14th Street, Boone confronted her. He then threatened her with a handgun, sexually assaulted her and took her cellphone.
Boone fled northbound on 14th Street after the student saw someone in the distance and started screaming for help. The victim then went to her apartment and called 911.
Boone had his initial court appearance March 3. A preliminary hearing has been set for March 13 and his cash bond is listed at $100,000.
