The Marquette women’s volleyball team defeated Syracuse in four sets (25-15, 25-22, 23-25, 25-19) to keep its Big East tournament dreams alive.
Syracuse (18-6, 7-2 Big East) came into the match having lost only once in Big East play but the Golden Eagles (15-9, 4-5 Big East) were simply better Saturday night.
After trailing 3-2 in the first set, Marquette scored seven straight points to take a lead it would not relinquish. The Golden Eagles then traded sets with the Orange in the second and third frames before taking over in the fourth set and beating Syracuse 25-19.

Marquette was led by sophomore Ashley Beyer whose 18 kills were also a match high. Sophomore Ciara Jones and freshman Danielle Carlson each added 12 kills a piece.
