Joining Tre Norman and Zaide Lowery as Golden Eagles moving away from the program, Jones opens up a third scholarship spot for Shaka Smart to fill this offseason.
The 5-foot-10 point guard came to Marquette in 2022 and showed brief flashes as an unsettling defender with his speed and athleticism. But, various injuries suffered every season stunted his potential.
Jones missed three games in his first year with a wrist injury and got surgery in the offseason. Halfway through his sophomore season, he tore his ACL while driving to the hoop on a fast-break, causing him to redshirt in 2024-25.
After recovering from the knee injury, Jones’ right shoulder and left foot prompted him to miss more time, and he appeared in only eight of Marquette’s 32 games last season.
While Jones has one year of eligibility remaining, he can apply for a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA to gain another season.
