The NCAA men’s basketball transfer portal doesn’t officially open until April 7, but Marquette got an early roster update Tuesday.
Junior guard Tre Norman announced plans to enter the portal with one year of eligibility remaining. His agency, Icon Athletes, broke the news via On3.com Tuesday morning.

The Boston native arrived at Marquette as a top-100 recruit — ranked 89th nationally by 247Sports out of Worcester Academy — but never secured a consistent role in the Golden Eagles’ rotation. Averaging only 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in barely over eight minutes across 30 games this season, Norman failed to develop offensively and spent a lot of time on the bench.
Norman’s departure means all three members of head coach Shaka Smart’s 2023 signing day class — Norman, Al Amadou, and Zaide Lowery — prematurely left the program.
Norman is the first Golden Eagle to announce his intentions to transfer this offseason, and his decision opens a second scholarship spot for next season. More will likely open.
The announcement comes shortly after Nigel James Jr., Adrien Stevens, Royce Parham and Damarius Owens all announced they are returning to Marquette.
