The final two weeks of the summer quiet period has been anything but quiet for the Golden Eagles, as coach Wojciechowski welcomed highly-touted targets Tyler Herro and Theo John to campus for visits.
Herro is a 2018 guard ranked 42nd in the country by Scout and the highest-ranked Milwaukee area prospect since Diamond Stone. He had an unofficial visit on campus August 29, the latest step in Wojciechowski’s pursuit of the Greenfield, Wisconsin, native. Herro told the Wire in July that assistant Brett Nelson has been in contact with him nearly every day. Wojo contacts him “quite often.”
John, a 2017 big man considered 27th among centers by Scout, landed on campus Thursday for his official visit. The Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, native has already taken official visits to Oklahoma and California and has an official visit booked for Minnesota next weekend.
Herro and John’s visits are the first of many in the next month. Wojo will host 2017 standouts Hasahn French Sept. 9, Jamal Lewis Sept. 16 and Xavier Tillman Sept. 23.
On a different note, Scout released their new Top 100 for the 2018 recruiting class. Wojo’s swing-for-the-fences recruiting plan rubbed off in the rankings as five Marquette recruits — Simi Shittu, Joey Hauser, Jalen Smith, Courtney Ramey and Ayo Dosunmu — found a spot in the Top 20. Shittu holds the highest spot of the bunch, ranked No. 7.
