The new Center for Gender and Sexualities Studies is accepting nominations from the Marquette community to fill five positions on its advisory board, the university announced this week.
CGSS Director Angie Harris will accept nominations until Thursday, Nov. 11, according to a university news brief. The positions will be filled by two faculty members, one student, one alumni and one community member.
The student board member will serve a one-year term. The other board members will each serve three-year terms.
The founding advisory board will be responsible for setting the center’s direction, developing a charter and mission statement and promoting the center’s future activities and programs.
At the start of the 2015-’16 school year, Provost Daniel Myers split the Gender and Sexuality Resource Center into two departments, the LGBT resource center and the CGSS.
The CGSS is classified under the College of Arts & Sciences and oversees the women’s and gender studies major and minor. The center also promotes gender and sexuality studies and provides support to faculty, students, alumni and the Milwaukee community.
