The Milwaukee Bucks added a versatile scorer to their roster July 5th.
Former Marquette star Kam Jones signed a two-contract with the Bucks, making it his third NBA team he has been a part of.
Jones was waived by the Chicago Bulls on June 30th, as the front office made the move to avoid guaranteeing his $2.15 million salary for the season, just days after acquiring him on draft night.
The Bucks swiftly picked up Jones for their summer league roster. Jones got an immediate opportunity to showcase his skills during a game against the Sacramento Kings July 6th. Jones looked comfortable to start the game, netting eight points, an assist and shooting 3-for-5 from the field while also making a free throw. This was all despite only playing under four minutes.
Jones showcased confidence as the guard got into a groove, which helped the Bucks climb back into the game early. He played 18 total minutes, finishing with 14 points, three assists and two rebounds.
Despite Milwaukee’s guard room being crowded, they now have an opportunity to develop a potential-filled 24-year-old Jones, who can aid the next era of Bucks basketball.
Jones becomes the Bucks’s third and final two-way player on the roster. He returns to Milwaukee, where he led Marquette to a Big East Tournament title and finished his career with 2,044 points which is the second-most in program history. He called the opportunity a “fresh start” as he expressed excitement about returning to where he put together a historic collegiate career.
