Men’s Basketball’s Expectations Continue To Elevate
With the 2023-24 season starting in one week, the expectations for Marquette are only getting higher.
- The Golden Eagles were voted No. 1 in the Big East Preseason Poll, earning seven first-place votes. It is the first time that Marquette has been tabbed to finish first since the 2013-14 season.
- Senior guard Tyler Kolek, last’s year Big East Player of the Year, was selected as the Big East Preseason Player of the Year.
- Senior forward Oso Ighodaro and junior guard Kam Jones were Preseason All-Big East Second Team selections.

Women’s Basketball Looking Ahead
After bringing in six new players, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish near the top of the Big East by the conference’s coaches.
- Marquette came in at No. 3 in the Big East Preseason Poll, just behind UConn and Creighton.
- Senior guard Jordan King was a unanimous selection to Preseason All-Big East Team.
- Senior forward Liza Karlen earned a spot on the Preseason All-Big East Honorable Mention list.

Volleyball Continues To Coast
In a 2-0 week, Marquette earned its 10th sweep of the season.
- In their first home game since Oct. 6, the Golden Eagles swept the Friars Friday night to remain undefeated all-time against them.
- The next day, Marquette swept UConn, hitting .438 in the third and final set.
- Senior middle blocker Anastasija Svetnik hit .438 finished with a season-high seven kills, a match-high five blocks, three digs and two assists.
- Junior setter Yadhira Anchante did not appear in either match, marking the fourth straight game she has missed. Junior right side/setter Ella Foti has filled in as Marquette’s primary setter.
Women’s Soccer Eliminated From Postseason
The Golden Eagles’ season ended on Thursday night as it lost 3-0 to No. 17 Xavier in a must-win match.
- The defeat marked the sixth consecutive year that Marquette has missed the Big East Tournament.
- In the loss, the Golden Eagles were shutout for the 12th time this season.
- Marquette concluded its season with a 5-10-4, 2-6-2 Big East record and will look ahead to next year to break its postseason drought.
Men’s Soccer’s Season Comes To An End
In a season where it started 6-0 and was ranked No. 13, Marquette saw its 2023 campaign come to an end.
- In a must-win match, the Golden Eagles fell 2-1 to the No. 7 Hoyas Saturday afternoon.
- Marquette did not record a win in the month of October with its last victory coming against Butler Sept. 30.
- The Golden Eagles finished with a 7-6-3, 1-5-2 Big East record on the year, ending in last place in the Midwest Division.
