A car flipped on 17th Street and State Avenue around 12:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, causing the male non-Marquette affiliated driver to be sent to the hospital, a university spokesperson said.
Responders from the Marquette University Police Department, the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department were on the scene.
MUPD squad cars blocked the street for firefighters trying to rescue the driver.
A street sign was hit during the incident.
A tow truck removed the car from the street at approximately 1 a.m.
