A prayer service was held Wednesday in the Chapel of the Holy Family in remembrance of the life of freshman Andrew Siebenaler.
Campus Ministry and McCormick Hall organized the service, which was presided over by the Rev. Thomas Anderson, assistant director of Campus Ministry.
“The ties of friendship and affection do not come to an end with death,” Anderson said. “Life can’t be turned back. We can only deal with the here and now the distressed, the survivors.”
About 40 people attended the half-hour service. McCormick hall ministers Margaret Andrews and Dorota Pruski also spoke.
The university has made accommodations for those who would like to attend Siebenaler’s services in Illinois.
Siebenaler’s wake will be held from 2 to 9 p.m. at Gibbons Elliston Funeral Home, 60 S. Grant St., Hinsdale, Ill. Transportation for the wake will leave from the east side of the Alumni Memorial Union at 5 p.m. today and return around 11 p.m.
The funeral will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Parish, 64 Norfolk Ave., Clarendon Hills, Ill. Transportation to the funeral will depart from the east side of the AMU at 7 a.m. Friday and return around 1:30 p.m.
Bus space is limited. Students are encouraged to call Campus Ministry early Thursday to see if space is still available.
