Sept. 16
At 8:14 p.m., DPS officers were flagged down by a student who claimed his residence had been burglarized near 20th and Clybourn streets. The student reported that an unknown person had entered his residence and stolen some loose change, a watch, a bottle of liquor and some beer. DPS was able to take the student’s description of the suspect and quickly apprehend him on 16th Street while he was riding a bicycle. He was taken into MPD custody.
Sept. 17
At 8 a.m., a male student reported that his bicycle was stolen from the rear of his residence in the 900 block of North 18th Street. According to the student, he had left his bicycle unsecured and unattended at the back door of his house the previous night. It was missing upon his return.
Sept. 18
At 10:44 p.m., two MPD officers on bike patrol in the 1900 block of West Kilbourn Avenue witnessed an 18-year-old female student place a cup of beer on the ground. When MPD officers approached her, the student ran. Officers quickly caught up with her and took her into the Avenues West MPD substation. The student was later released without a fine, but ordered to appear at the substation at a later date to speak with officers.
Sept. 20
At 3:52 p.m., DPS officers confiscated a fake identification card that was found on a Student Safety Programs LIMO. The name on the card was identified as a freshman student. The student later attempted to reclaim the card at DPS offices in the 16th Street parking structure. When officers asked him how old he was, the student gave a legal drinking age. DPS destroyed the ID.
