MUPD responded to a request by the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department to shut down the southbound I-43 entrance ramp toward Chicago, Capt. Jeff Kranz confirmed. A portion of the interstate is being shut down in response to a shooting on the stretch of the interstate near the Walker’s Point neighborhood.

The MCSO said to expect at least two hours of delays as the¬†interstate is closed from the interchange on Marquette’s campus to Mitchell Street.

Traffic is being diverted onto I-94 westbound.

This is the second shooting on I-43 this month. Two subjects were struck Nov. 16 by gunfire in a road rage incident on the northbound freeway near Walnut Street.

This story is developing.
