Marquette men’s lacrosse announced the additions of transfers Andrew Romagnoli and John Hulsmanfor the 2019 season Tuesday.
Romagnoli started his collegiate career with the Golden Eagles in 2015 before transferring to Delaware. The graduate transfer returns to Marquette after three seasons on the East Coast.
Romagnoli posted impressive numbers over his time with the Blue Hens, recording 60 goals and 31 assists in just 34 games.
Senior and sophomore attackmen John Wagner and Anthony Orsini will most likely keep their starting positions heading into the 2019 seasons, most likely leaving Romagnoli with a key bench role for the Golden Eagles.
Marquette now gains a third goalie option as Hulsman joins the squad. The sophomore goalie actually played against the Golden Eagles last season as Bellarmine defeated Marquette 7-6 in double overtime.
In his one season with the Knights, Hulsman earned All-Southern Conference first-team honors. He led the league in save percentage (.589), saves per game (12.56) and goals allowed (8.69).
Hulsman will compete with junior Chris Rolfing and sophomore Gabe Stein for playing time following the graduation of goalie Cole Blazer. Blazer was the only starter last year to not return.
