Marquette basketball alumnus Vander Blue will return to the NBA, as Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports announced the guard will sign with the Los Angeles Lakers for the team’s final two games of the season.
Blue spent most of the 2015-15 season with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, the Lakers’ D-League affiliate. With the D-Fenders, Blue averaged 23.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He was named a D-League All-Star for the 2015 season.
This is Blue’s second stint in the NBA, as he signed with the Boston Celtics last season. In three games in Boston, he averaged 1.7 points per game in five total minutes of play. The Lakers will be Blue’s eighth team since forgoing his senior year to go pro.
Blue will fill fellow Marquette grad Dwight Buycks’s spot on the Lakers roster. Buycks fractured his hand in the Lakers game against the Dallas Mavericks.
