The men’s and women’s track and field teams finished triumphant in California, where they competed at three different meets.
At the Beach Invitational in Norwalk, Calif., the women’s 1600 meter relay team of seniors Katie Kemmerer, Gretchen Homan, Kate Hein and freshman Anna Strong won with a time of 3:44.67, the fourth best time in program history. Alison Parker set a freshman program record in the women’s 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.92.
Freshman Omo Tseumah took fourth in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 7 inches. Sophomore Kellie Greenwood placed seventh in the women’s 5,000 meter run with a time of 17:04.40, and sophomore Anton Rice finished 10th in the men’s 800 meter run in 1:51.26.
In the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Tseumah tied for fifth in the women’s high jump with a leap of 5 feet, 7 inches, while senior Carlye Schuh placed sixth in the women’s long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 10.75 inches. Anna Strong also recorded a personal-best time of 55.43 seconds in the women’s 400 meter run, the second-fastest in Marquette history.
At the Brian Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University, senior Spencer Agnew placed fifth in the men’s 1,500 meter run with a time of 3:46.50, the fourth best in school history, and sophomore Kayla Spencer ran the sixth fastest women’s 1,500 meter run in program history with a time of 4:29.97.
