As Marquette women’s lacrosse prepares to play No. 17 Denver in the first round of the Big East tournament Thursday, it has been given a reason to celebrate before ever stepping on the field.
Fifth-year Hanna Bodner earned Big East midfielder of the year, Dani Serrano nabbed Big East sreshman of the year and four other Marquette players were named to All-Big East teams.
Tess Osburn received a spot on the first team while Sofia Santana, Riley Jenkins and Gabby Windesheim were given second team honors. Six selections to All-Big East teams and two player of the year honors in a single season ties a program record.

This is the second year in a row Bodner has grabbed the midfielder award and the fourth year in a row the award has been given to a Golden Eagle (Leigh Steiner in 2024 and Lydia Foust in 2023). Bodner led the Big East in draw controls (72) and was one of the conference’s top scorers. She also received both the President’s Award and the Metcalfe Senior Female Athletic Award at the Marquette Athletics Annual Blue & Golden Globes Sunday.
Serrano is Marquette’s second-ever Big East freshman of the year award-winner, alongside Shea Garcia in 2019, and the third first-year in program history to receive All-Big East honors. Serrano led the conference in assists per game (2.47), points per game (4.47) and shooting percentage (.588) between players with double-digit goals.
Here are some other highlights from the four other players honored:
- Osburn: This is the senior attacker’s third-straight year with an All-Big East award. She led Marquette in shots (82) and shots on goal (66).
- Santana: The senior defender finished second in the conference with 24 caused turnovers. This is her first conference award.
- Junior midfielder Jenkins: This is Jenkins’ first conference award after being one of Marquette’s top scorers (22 goals).
- Windesheim: The first-year is the first draw control specialist at Marquette to earn conference honors since Mary Blee in 2022 and the second all-time.
