Tracorum Album Review
Tricked
The soulful, bluesy, jam band infuses an awesome mix of genres to bring an explosion of sound that packs a punch. Tracorum really stepped up to the plate for this LP- “Tricked.” They bring the roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll to the forefront of their sound, with an original Delta Blues sound united with an old fashioned “The Band” type of jamming. The solos in their single “Waiting,” and “City Lights,” “Mambo’s Gumbo,” and “Working Man’s Groove” incorporate some incredible guitar and piano dueling, with a backbeat that will truly make you tap your feet. My personal favorite, “I Know A Place,” includes a harmonica solo that might rival those by John Popper and Blues Traveler.
If you want to bob your head, tap your feet, and jam to a great sound, check these guys out. Truly a blast to the recent past. “A” grade territory most definitely!
Paper Parlor Album Review
Paper Parlor-EP
No matter the type of music you find most attractive, this is a band that you can appreciate and respect. Paper Parlor is a three piece band that brings the sound and fullness of a fully orchestrated band. You can hear influences of acoustic/folk music, alternative rock of the late 90’s, and fast-paced melodies. Don’t be fooled by their inexperience in the national light, because their musical maturity is all to evident. Hailing from the northern Minnesota region, you can also feel the Canadian jam band aspect throughout the album. Be sure to listen to the album front to back though; the small 6 song EP not only displays instrumental talent, but an emotional roller coaster that will make you leap for joy and weep in sorrow with some truly beautiful lyrical genius. Especially check out “The Wishing Well” and “In My Head,” but don’t skip a beat. “B” grade for this EP.
