Marquette Law School and St. Norbert College announced Monday a new collaborative program for students working toward a law degree, called the 3-plus-3 program.
The program is the first of its kind in Wisconsin, according to a report from wearegreebay.com. It allows pre-law St. Norbert students to enroll in Marquette Law School after completing an initial three years at St. Norbert.
Participants will graduate with both a St. Norbert undergraduate and Marquette law degree in six years — a year less than what is typical for getting those degrees.
Marquette’s offical law school website details how to be one of their 25 pre-law scholars, who are able to complete the 3-plus-3 program. To qualify, a student has to have an ACT compostie score of 28 or SAT combined score of 1260 and be in the top 10 percent of their high school class.
“We are delighted and honored to able to work with Marquette Law School on this innovative partnership,” said St. Norbert President Thomas Kunkel in the report. “Our schools have many shared values and much common history – including lots of ‘dual’ graduates. We are delighted to be able to offer law-bound students an opportunity to get their degrees from both schools and still save on a full year of college tuition. It’s exactly the kind of value-added opportunity families are asking for.”
As juniors, St. Norbert students will transfer to Marquette and, upon successful first-year law school completion, the credits will be transferred back to St. Norbert for a baccalaureate degree.
