Sophomore John Dawson, who decided to leave the Marquette program at the end of the Fall semester, will be transferring to Liberty University according to Scout.com’s Evan Daniels. He will have to sit out until spring semester of next year.
Dawson, who came to Marquette as a three star recruit, averaged two points and 10.2 minutes per game in 24 games his freshman year. He seemed to be the odd man out of the lineup under Steve Wojciechowski this season, playing a grand total of four minutes in eight games.
The Liberty Flames compete as a member of the Big South Conference and have posted a 6-9 record thus far this season. The Flames have not had a winning season since the 2010-11 season. Liberty is a private, Christian University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Founded in 1971, the school is the second youngest competing at the Division-I level.
Dawson was one of two players to leave Marquette at the end of the semester. Also transferring was sophomore Deonte Burton, who chose Iowa State as his new home late last month.
