Marquette is back in action Wednesday when they host cross-state rival Wisconsin-Madison. The team has been off since Sept. 20 due to Providence being unable to travel to Milwaukee after the incident at O’Hare Airport in Chicago.
The Badgers are having a less-than-stellar season thus far, currently sitting at 1-5-1. Their lone win came in a 4-0 victory over Xavier on Aug. 31, nearly a month ago. Most recently, Wisconsin lost to Maryland 2-0 Friday night in its Big Ten conference opener.
Wisconsin already has as many losses as it did all of last season, when the team finished with a 14-5-2 record. That included a close 1-0 victory at home against Marquette. After defeating Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the first round of the NCAA tournament, the Badgers were eliminated by eventual champion Notre Dame.
Marquette won in dramatic fashion the last time the sides played at Valley Fields in 2012. Andy Huftalin scored a golden goal in the 108th minute to give the Golden Eagles the double-overtime victory. Marquette is 14-28-11 all-time against the Badgers.
Kickoff at Valley Fields is at 7 p.m.
