It is a well-known fact that drinking water everyday is key to maintaining a healthy body. We’re always told to drink plenty of fluids when we’re sick, and hydrate ourselves constantly when we’re outside. But water is just… not as appealing as, say, lemonade on a hot summer day, or Gatorade after a long run.
It’s always been impossible for me to keep track of how much water I drink. I always assumed that I drank enough just because I finished my water bottle. Then I heard that drinking eight glasses of water a day keeps your skin clear. Naturally, as a skin-obsessed teenager, I started to keep track of how much water I drank daily. I found a clever way online to encourage myself to keep drinking water throughout the day, and think you should give it a try:
Using a sharpie or a dry-erase marker, mark time increments on several water bottles, like this:
Make sure that you drink down to the line by each hour of the day. These time increments helped me drink a certain amount of water every hour, and eventually I became accustomed to hydrating myself regularly without having to draw lines on my water bottle.
Ideally, you should drink at least 64 ounces of water a day. So it might take more than a couple water bottles to do this. Drinking lots of water is not only for those that play sports outside regularly. Water naturally suppresses your appetite, helps get rid of your body waste, and protects your joints and organs. To add a little flavor, try putting a slice of lemon in your glass of water. Not only does the lemon slice provide vitamin C and curb cravings, but it also makes your drink look a little more fancy.
