1. Free Injury Screenings:
Did Halloween weekend break your back or are studies putting a cramp in your style? The MU Sports Rehab Clinic is offering free injury screenings in case that ankle is more than a sprain and you don’t want to take a trip to a doctor’s office. Physical therapists, athletic trainers and qualified students in the program will be on hand to provide free screenings to students who suspect an injury. Injury screenings start tomorrow November 1st and recur every Tuesday in Cramer Hall room 215 from 1-3 p.m. and on Thursdays from 9-11 a.m.
2. Events for Native American Heritage Month:
November is Native American Heritage Month and what could be a better way to celebrate it than by attending “Hollywood Squares: Dispelling the myths of what an American Indian is” tomorrow Nov. 1 from 7-8:30 p.m. in AMU 227. This free event will explore the ways the media has portrayed American Indians to the rest of the world. Want to learn more?
Later in the week on November 3rd a discussion of “Who’s the American Indian on the MU Flag” will take place featuring conversations on urban Native Americans and their relationships between the Jesuit community and American Indians. Renee Jean Zakhar, author of American Indians of Milwaukee and Mark Thiel, certified archivist in Raynor Memorial Libraries will facilitate the lecture from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in AMU 163.
3. Advising Week:
Have you seen your advisor yet? Meet with your advisor to pick out the perfect schedule for you this week because class registration starts Nov. 7! Ask all the questions you need to and find out what are the best classes to take by talking to your peers and professors. Snapshots are now available on CheckMarq and use the what-if-report for more details on what to sign up for. Also, class bulletins are now accessible online. The new site is searchable, current, easier to use and more cost-effective. This site is now the most up-to-date source of course, degree and policy information for all students. As a result of the new online software the bulletins will no longer be printed.
