Cara Consuegra has locked in Marquette women’s basketball’s new recruiting coordinator.
A position previously held by assistant coach Khadijah Rushdan before her discreet departure part-way through last season, Consuegra found a replacement in Sheila Boykin.

“We are excited to have Sheila join our staff,” Consuegra said in a release from Marquette athletics. “Sheila is an accomplished coach with championship-level experience and a relentless worth ethic that sets the standard every day.
“Just as important, she embodies a culture that aligns perfectly with our values and will be a tremendous relationship builder with our student-athletes, helping them grow both on and off the court.”
Boykin joins the Golden Eagles after three seasons in the same role at South Florida. Before joining the Bulls in June 2023, Boykin was an assistant coach at Loyola Chicago (2022-23) and California State, Northridge (2020-22), also serving as the Matadors’ recruiting coordinator.
After making 113 appearances across four seasons at LSU, Boykin played professionally in both Greece and Turkey before starting her coaching career at San Diego State as a graduate assistant in 2018.
Boykin joins Marquette at a critical time for the program.
The Golden Eagles have 10 open roster spots and only five projected players — three of which are underclassmen — and only two weeks before the transfer portal closes April 20. Marquette lost all its post players (including leading scorer Skylar Forbes) along with five guards, and seriously lack experience and depth.
Consuegra also lost assistant coach Chaia Meier after she was named Bradley’s head coach on April 3.
