Play him: Anquan Boldin, WR, Baltimore Ravens
Now that the snow flurries have started, Boldin probably longs for the Arizona heat and quarterback Kurt Warner’s Hall of Fame precision. It’s been a rough year in northern Maryland for the talented receiver, whose numbers have been sporadic at best. Luckily, happy days are on the horizon, as Boldin and the Ravens take on the Houston Texans and the league’s worst pass defense. He’s also coming off a 100-yard receiving game, so the time to play Boldin is now.
Sit him: Bears Defense
This is the first time I’ve highlighted a defense, but I think it’s definitely warranted. The Bears defense is currently tied for first in the league, though it has played poorly the last two weeks against the explosive Eagles and the fairly unspectacular Lions. This week it climbs a slippery slope against Bill Belichick and the Patriots. Chicago’s cover-2 formation is vulnerable to short passes over the middle, and nobody is better at playing that game than quarterback Tom Brady and wide receiver Wes Welker. This is a matchup nightmare.
Get him: Davone Bess, WR, Miami Dolphins
Time to hop back on the bandwagon. With quarterback Chad Henne returning to what was a sputtering offensive attack, Bess has reeled in 12 catches for 178 yards the last two weeks. If Bess can start finding the end zone, he could be a prime pickup for fantasy playoffs. He’s available in 72.1 percent of standard ESPN leagues, so scoop him up now if you need help in the receiver slot.
