Former Marquette men’s soccer goalkeeper Matt Pyzdrowski just signed a two-year contract with the United Soccer League’s Portland Timbers according to Marquette men’s soccer coach Louis Bennett. The Timbers currently play in the USL second division under the MLS. The Timbers, however, will join the MLS in 2011. Full details of his contract will be released on Monday according to Bennett.
Pyzdrowski finished his career at Marquette ranked fifth all-time with 5,336:08 minutes in goal and ranks seventh in all-time goals against average (1.37), career shutouts (11) and career saves (206).
Last season, Pyzdrowski was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll three times during his senior season and was one of only two Marquette players to receive the honor. He posted single-season career best marks in goals against average (1.18), save percentage (75.3), shutouts (5), saves (58) and wins (4) en route to being named the team’s Most Valuable Player.
