Senior Dusan Medan advanced to the qualifying draw of the D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., after beating three opponents in the pre-qualifying draw.

Medan defeated Indiana’s Paul Chappel, 7-6, 6-3, Oral Roberts’ Dmitry Suslov, 6-2, 6-3, Middle Tennessee State’s Victor Melo, 7-6, 6-3 and Nebraska’s Christopher Amueller, 6-4, 7-5, the 59th ranked player in the country, to advance to the qualifying draw of the tournament.

“He has won four really tough matches so far,” coach Steve Rodecap said. “There are never any easy matches in that tournament, and he has really represented Marquette well.”

Meanwhile, freshman Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley defeated junior and teammate Jose Manuel Munoz 6-2, 6-1 to take the Flight D singles title for Marquette Sunday at the 2009 Wildcat Invitational at Northwestern.

Senior Mark Rutheford, sophomore Jonathan Schwerin and sophomore Drake Kakar all reached the quarterfinals in Flight A singles, Flight B singles and Flight C singles respectively.
