The Marquette men’s tennis team’s weekend at the rain-filled Ball State Fall Invitational was highlighted by a finalist in Flight C doubles and two semifinalists in Flight C singles.
Rain washed out much of Friday’s action and forced sophomore Drake Kakar and freshman Otavio Perim, who advanced to the finals in Flight C doubles, to withdraw because Marquette left for Milwaukee before the match was played.
Kakar and freshman Jacob Straus both advanced to the semifinals in Flight C singles before bowing out. Kakar dropped the third set tiebreaker 11-9 to Mathias Hambach of Depaul, while Straus lost for the first time this season in straight sets to Ball State’s Alex Doherty.
Senior Niko Bouleris and freshman Otavio Perim reached the quarterfinals in Flight A singles and sophomore Jon Schwerin reached the quarterfinals in Flight B singles.
