Senior guard Maurice Acker has rejoined the Marquette men’s basketball team after leaving two months ago to concentrate on academics. The Journal Sentinel first broke the story, and Marquette Associate Athletic Director, Scott Kuykendal, confirmed it.
The 5-foot-7 guard was all set to graduate from the university this fall, but will need six more credit hours in the spring to fulfill necessary requirements.
Acker played a vital role for the Golden Eagles after Dominic James went down with a foot injury towards the end of last season. Acker started the team’s final seven games and averaged 5.3 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in that time.
With Acker back, Marquette now has some experience at the point, and the team as a whole will benefit from his presence on and off the court.
