Both the men and the women placed third, behind Notre Dame and Michigan State.,”The Marquette track and field team was one of three teams that competed in the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday. The event, which took place at the Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center, was the Golden Eagles' first scored meet of the season.
Both the men and the women placed third, behind Notre Dame and Michigan State.
"We have a ways to go before we are where we want to be," said Marquette head coach Bert Rogers. "But those who competed, competed hard."
According to Rogers, the team placed high in many events, but it was the team's lack of depth that hurt it.
"We need to get stronger and deeper as a team," Rogers said.
The team also saw another five men and four women qualify for the Big East Championships at the end of February.
Next up for the Golden Eagles are the Indiana Relays in Bloomington, Ind.
