A Department of Public Safety vehicle was involved in an accident at about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Katie Murray, a senior in the College of Communication, said she was walking through the alley between Schroeder Hall and Varsity Theatre when she witnessed a DPS vehicle drive past her.

"Moments later, I heard a crash," Murray said.

According to Murray, the DPS car hit the passenger side of a vehicle traveling on North 13th Street.

The driver of the vehicle did not appear to be a student.

Another DPS officer who responded to the scene would not comment on the accident. The driver of the other vehicle also did not wish to comment.

Efforts were made to reach DPS Associate Director Capt. Russ Shaw Wednesday evening. As of press time, he did not return Tribune messages.
