When I heard yesterday that senior Wesley Matthews was competing tonight in the dunk portion of the 21st Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championship in Detroit, I thought my friend was playing an April Fools Day prank. (By the way Will, it was me.) Then I read it online and knew it must be true, because the internet is an infallible source of information. I don't care what anyone says, Wikipedia never told me a lie.
So Matthews will put on his uniform one last time, going up against the likes of Gonzaga's Jeremy Pargo and six other championship hopefuls. I knew Marquette would make it to the Motor City this April. Kind of.
At the very least, this is a perfect distraction to keep me from fuming about my busted bracket for this year's "bank-etology" pool. It's kind of like the NCAA basketball tournament — a 64-financial institution, knock-out style competition with the last remaining bank to accept economic stimulus bailout money crowned the winner. Needless to say, it's the last time I'll trust Capital One on several levels.
