Every once in a while a band comes into the mainstream pop/rock scene that just can't be ignored. Maryland rockers All Time Low preformed at The Rave, 2401 W. Wisconsin Ave., Friday, delivering a stellar performance.
Lead singer Alex Gaskarth and company were quick to show off their musical talent, as well as their notoriously comedic side in between songs.
"Poppin' Champagne," the third single off its latest album So Wrong, It's Right, was the energy-building opener that sent the audience into a dancing frenzy.
All Time Low has something special that many bands today lack. The band is able to entertain its fans so much on and off stage that the audience literally can't get enough.
Gaskarth and lead guitarist Jack Barakat provide somewhat immature, yet surprisingly witty humor that no band has combined with raw pop-punk talent since Blink 182.
The band didn't just play its songs and leave, All Time Low gave the crowd something to look forward to after their favorite songs such as and "Six Feet Under the Stars" and "Coffee Shop Soundtrack" were over.
When the Warped Tour came to the Summerfest Grounds in August, All Time Low was forced to cancel its Milwaukee show to premiere its video for "Poppin' Champagne" at MTV studios in Los Angeles. It was the only date they missed, so they decided to reward fans at the Rave by playing "Lullabies" — a touching song not often preformed.
After quickly being called back for an encore, Gaskarth took the stage solo, this time with an acoustic guitar. Many were expecting "Remembering Sunday" the only acoustic song the band performs. However, the front man played half a song he had written before the tour for their upcoming album due next year.
Gaskarth then played part of fictitious band, Infant Sorrow's "Inside of You," from the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" soundtrack, once again showcasing the band's good sense of humor.
"Remembering Sunday" was performed before a trade of the acoustic guitar for the Gibson electric guitar. The concert finished with "Dear Maria, Count Me In," arguably All Time Low's most popular song.,”Danny O'Donnell”
