Sophomore Mark Rutherford defeated Paul Foley of Purdue 6-4, 6-2 on Saturday and then defeated Robert Rotaru of Louisville 6-4, 7-6 on Sunday.

Niko Boulieris and Brett Binkley also picked up singles victories at Purdue, but Marquette dropped three doubles matches to the Boilermakers and lost 4-3.,”The Marquette men's tennis team dropped matches on the road to Purdue and Louisville over the weekend.

Things weren't any easier against the Cardinals. Marquette went 1-6 in singles matches. Rutherford's victory was the team's lone win. The Golden Eagles also dropped three doubles matches to Louisville, falling 6-1.

Marquette is 2-2 on the season.
