The Republican candidate was in Brew City for a $1,000-a-plate luncheon at the club, 924 E. Wells St. Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson (R) endorsed Giuliani last week.
When asked how he planned to get the student vote in Wisconsin while holding such an expensive luncheon, Giuliani cited a rally in Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa, that drew large numbers of students on Wednesday as a testament of his appeal to the voting bloc.
"We had so many students last night in Iowa. Around 500, I think," Giuliani said as he signed baseballs outside the club for a handful of his Milwaukee supporters.
Another presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) made an appearance earlier this week in Madison. Obama held a rally Oct. 15 to drum up student support. Students paid $15 to attend the Monday event, while other attendees paid $30.
