Officers found Davids lying in a street about 1 a.m. Saturday with stab wounds to his head and chest.,”SCHOFIELD, Wis. (AP) – An 18-year-old man who was fatally stabbed at an underage drinking party over the weekend was identified by police Sunday as Nathaniel J. Davids.
Officers found Davids lying in a street about 1 a.m. Saturday with stab wounds to his head and chest. He was pronounced dead at a Weston hospital.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at his Wausau home later that morning. Police said they will ask the Marathon County district attorney on Monday to file first-degree intentional homicide charges against him.
According to a preliminary investigation, the incident apparently started at a house party attended by about 20 teens and young adults, Police Chief Dan Vergin said. A fight reportedly broke out over a damaged vehicle and the suspect, who was inside the home, joined the fight that led to the death.
The suspect admitted he'd been involved in the fight and stabbing, said Vergin, who added that a 3.5-inch folding knife believed to be the murder weapon was found at the suspect's home.
No one else is expected to be charged in connection with the stabbing, Vergin said, but others might face charges for underage drinking and for being involved in the fight.
